West Norfolk Carers; driving force for No Child Should Go Hungry
Citizens in West Norfolk clubbed together in an excellent bid to feed families. After Boris Johnson refused to extend free school meals to children across England during the half-term holiday in late October, many were roused in their local areas to avoid children being left without meals.
Jackie Haverson (from West Norfolk Carers), along with ‘Angels of Lynn’, quickly called out to local companies, and supermarkets for ay help they could offer.
Their request for food donations was voiced across various social media channels. But in the end it was the locals of Lynn who really showed up.
The difficulties of a pandemic did not dampen any efforts in providing for those in need. Instead, this cause was met with a resilience which portrayed the locals of West Norfolk to be generous beyond measure. Even those with little, gave.
Due to social distancing, only 6 people could be in one room at the same time - making it all the more harder to complete within in short time frame.
Employees from West Norfolk Carers and the King’s Lynn Discovery Centre, along with Jo Rust met at the Discovery Centre from eight o’clock on Sunday morning. They worked tirelessly to put food packs together with the donations they received.
Donations were spilling out into the corridor, whilst those who were present were pleasantly surprised by the amount of donations and charity shown by so many people and organisations.
