A special Saturday for our young carers
On Saturday 18th March, King’s Lynn Town Football Club had some of our young carers as their special guests; giving them a guided tour of the stadium, introducing them to players and having them walk out onto the pitch as mascots. This was in honour of Young Carers Action Day.
Staff at the club were amazing and very welcoming to West Norfolk Carers. Everybody treated the children so kindly. The kids struggled to hide their excitement. Norman Cesar, Match-day Secretary, gave the guided tour. Followed by players meeting and greeting the young carers. The children loved getting their t-shirts signed and collecting the autographs of the players.
Before kick-off the children waited patiently to be taken out onto the pitch as mascots. Some of the young carers who rarely smile now had a smile that reached both sides of their face. Their animated features showed as they walked out proudly next to the King’s Lynn players.
The children were so grateful to have had this privilege. It made them feel so special and seen. Experiences like this are such a contrast to the usual struggles they face.
Thank you to King’s Lynn Town Football Club for providing this opportunity and raising awareness of young carers. Another massive thank you to Tim Gilbert Wealth Manager for arranging t-shirts for the young carers to wear.
